Custom Solid Wood Staircases: Timber, Safety and Budget
· WisutWood, full-cycle solid wood factory in Surat Thani · Woodwork
In short: A solid wood staircase needs hardwood that takes repeated footfall and is not slippery, above all on the treads — Takhian Thong or Teak for durability. WisutWood makes the stair components (risers, treads, stringers, handrails) to your drawing and ships them planed and unfinished for your own team to install. Get a price here
Choosing the timber for stairs
Treads carry the most weight and the most footfall, so they want a stable, wear-resistant hardwood such as Takhian Thong (in stock) or Teak (premium). Handrails and risers are then chosen to match the set.
The components to specify
- Treads and risers — thickness, width, number of steps
- Stringers and frame — to suit the layout (straight, with a turn, or spiral)
- Handrail and balusters — height and spacing to meet safety requirements

Frequently asked questions
Are wooden stairs slippery? Your own installer can add an anti-slip surface while finishing on site, and hard-wearing hardwood is the right choice for the treads.
Can you make a spiral staircase? Yes — the factory makes the components to whatever stair design you specify.
