Questions before you order Wood flooring
How far apart should floor joists be?
As a general rule, 3/4 inch flooring sits on joists about 30–40 cm apart and 1 inch flooring about 40–50 cm apart. The actual spacing depends on the species, the joist size and the service load, so the installing carpenter should set it on site.
What moisture content should wood flooring have?
Flooring should be at no more than 12% moisture content (12–15% is acceptable). Timber that is still damp shrinks after laying, which opens gaps, cups the boards or splits them. WisutWood uses kiln-dried timber and meters the moisture before dispatch.
What is the difference between tongue-and-groove and end-matched flooring?
Tongue-and-groove flooring comes as long boards matched along the sides, which lays quickly and reads as one continuous surface. End-matched flooring is shorter pieces matched on the sides and the ends, so shorter timber can be used; it is usually more affordable and gives a floor with more character.
How is wood flooring priced?
Per square metre, by species, thickness and board width. Raised floors include the joists and beams. Finishing is not included, because woodwork ships planed and unfinished from the factory, but coatings can be ordered along with it. Send the area in sq m and the species you are interested in for an initial estimate.
Can you deliver wood flooring to other provinces or outside the south?
We deliver to sites across the upper south as standard (Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Krabi, Phuket, Phang Nga, Ranong, Chumphon, Phatthalung and the islands). For larger projects outside that area we charter trucks and deliver nationwide. Quoted prices do not include freight, which is estimated from distance and volume. We manufacture and deliver only. We do not install; your own carpenters do the fitting on site.
