Questions before you order Wood stairs

What is the maximum riser height on a staircase?

In residential buildings the riser is no more than 20 cm and the tread no less than 22 cm deep. Stairs that are comfortable to walk usually have 15–18 cm risers and 25–30 cm treads.

Can wood be laid over an existing concrete staircase?

Yes. Send the actual size of each step and we make the treads and risers to fit. If the step heights vary a lot, have the installing carpenter level them first.

How are wood stairs priced?

Per step (tread plus riser) by species and thickness. Handrails are priced per metre, and balusters or newel posts per piece. Send the number of steps and the stair width for an initial estimate.

Which species suits a wood staircase?

Treads take the most wear, so use a stable, hard-wearing hardwood such as Takhian Thong (in stock) or teak (sourced on request). Match the handrail, balusters and risers so the whole staircase reads as one set.

Can you deliver wood stairs to other provinces or outside the south?

We deliver to sites across the upper south as standard (Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Krabi, Phuket, Phang Nga, Ranong, Chumphon, Phatthalung and the islands). For larger projects outside that area we charter trucks and deliver nationwide. Quoted prices do not include freight, which is estimated from distance and volume. We manufacture and deliver only. We do not install; your own carpenters do the fitting on site.
