Timber Bungalows and Villas for Resorts: The Species, the Steps, and What You Need Before a Price
· WisutWood, full-cycle solid wood factory in Surat Thani · Woodwork
In short: WisutWood cuts the structural timber for a whole building to your drawings and delivers it to site, for the project's own contractor to assemble and erect — posts, beams, joists, rafters, purlins, floor and wall framing, flooring, cladding, ceilings, stairs, doors, windows and decking. We are a factory: there is no installation service and we do not take on construction contracts. What you need before a price is architectural plus structural drawings, or a bill of quantities. See the timber building kits page or price a timber frame.
Species for a building near the sea
The sections and the species used in the structure must be set by the project's engineer. What the factory can tell you is which timbers are actually available and how each one copes with the climate.
- Takhian thong — dense, in stock, used for both structure and flooring
- Teng — very dense, suits load-bearing and outdoor work
- Makha — dense with a strong figure, sourced per job, legal-origin documentation required
- Sadao — keeps the budget down for indoor work that carries no main load
Compare them all in the wood species guide.
How a kit job runs
- Send the architectural and structural drawings, or a bill of quantities. No drawings yet? Send reference photos with dimensions and the number of buildings.
- The factory takes it off into a timber schedule — lengths, sections and counts — and quotes.
- Confirm the design and the species (signed off by the project's engineer) and pay the deposit.
- The parts are cut, planed and marked up to the schedule.
- Delivery to site follows the sequence the site needs, for the project's own contractor to assemble.
When several buildings have to match
Resorts ordering a row of bungalows all hit the same problem: the buildings come out slightly different from each other. Cutting the whole batch to one schedule in one factory keeps dimensions, species and sections identical across every building — and the furniture for the same buildings can follow straight on. See villa and holiday home work and structural woodwork.
Shipping to an island
Island work has to be planned around ferry slots and the sequence of work on site. Freight is charged at cost and stated in the quotation — see where we deliver.
Frequently asked questions
Will you build the whole timber house for us? No. We make the structural timber parts for the whole building to your drawings and deliver them to site; the project's own contractor assembles them. We have no installation service and do not take construction contracts.
Can you price it without drawings? Yes, as a starting point. Send reference photos with width, length and height and the number of buildings, and our team will frame up a timber schedule; the real price is confirmed once the drawings arrive.
Who decides the sections of the posts and beams? The project's engineer. The factory builds to the sections and species the drawings specify; we do not design the structure.
Can you make the furniture for the same building? Yes. The building's woodwork and the furniture inside it are made in the same factory, so the wood tone matches and everything can ship in one run.
