Ordering Sawn and Planed Timber from the Factory: How Volume (cu ft) and Price Are Worked Out
· WisutWood, full-cycle solid wood factory in Surat Thani · Woodwork
In short: Timber is priced on volume in cubic feet × the price per cu ft for that species + milling labour. The volume formula is thickness (inch) × width (inch) × length (metre) × 0.0228 per board. WisutWood is a full-cycle factory, sawing and planing to the sizes you need. Work out your price now
How timber volume is calculated
Volume (cu ft) = thickness (inch) × width (inch) × length (metre) × 0.0228 Example: a board 1.5 × 6 inch and 4 metres long = 0.8208 cu ft per board. Multiply by the price per cu ft for the species, then add milling labour (boards thicker, wider or longer than the standard ranges carry extra labour according to difficulty).
Choosing species and grade
We hold species in stock (Takhian Thong, Sadao Thiam) and source others to order — compare their properties in the guide to 24 wood species, and see the production lines on the factory page.
