Volume (cu.ft) = thickness (in) × width (in) × length (m) × quantity × the factory factor · labour is multiplied by a difficulty factor for the board size

Quick mode · Wood flooring Enter your room size or the number of boards and get a price per metre / m² with your estimate

Enter your room size or the number of boards and pick a wood: the calculator works out the wood volume (cu.ft), the cost of the wood, the labour and the price per metre, using the same formula the WisutWood factory quotes with.

1. Wood species and board size

The price comes from the wood volume (cu.ft) for the sizes you enter; our team confirms the real price once it has seen the drawing.

This wood is priced on request — we still work out the volume for you, and our team will quote the price directly.

IUCN Critically Endangered (emerald ash borer) — supply is tight (not a CITES listing)
IUCN vulnerable — legal-origin documentation required
2. Quantity

Rows = room width ÷ the board's real effective face (rounded up) × room length + a waste allowance · solid wood comes in mixed lengths and can be joined end to end along a row, so the price follows the total metres.

How woodwork prices are worked out

How is timber volume (cu ft) calculated?

Volume (cu ft) = thickness (inch) × width (inch) × length (m) × 0.0228 — for example a 1.5 × 6 inch board 4 m long is 0.8208 cu ft per board. Multiply by the price per cu ft for that species and add the milling labour per cu ft (boards thicker, wider or longer than the standard ranges add labour by difficulty).

How many boards does one room need?

Rows = room width (cm) ÷ the board's effective face (a 6 inch board leaves about 13.5 cm once it is tongued and grooved), rounded up, then multiplied by the room length in metres, plus 5% for cutting.

Is the calculated price the real price?

It is a preliminary, non-binding estimate. The price is confirmed once our team has reviewed your drawing and real dimensions; some species have to be sourced first and show as "ask for a price".
